Just a Glassful of Sugar…?
August 14, 2007
While nothing can duplicate the nutritional benefits of whole fruits and vegetables, juices are a good source of nutrition, too.
But is the juice you’re drinking actually much more than a glass of sugar?
Products labeled fruit drink, cocktail, beverage or punch are not 100-percent juice and can contain a lot of added sugar, in the case of fruit drinks, or sodium, in the case of vegetable drinks.
In addition, many fruit drinks are fortified with vitamin C but again, they may not contain much juice. Whether it’s fruit or vegetable, for the most nutrition check the label and be sure you’re buying 100-percent juice.
